Icons are an absolutely essential part of the Windows GUI (Graphical User Interface). Every program has its own distinctive icon, as do system elements like Recycle Bin and My Computer. Registered document types also have specific icons, so you can recognize them easily in Explorer's listings. However, when you start to personalize your own Windows desktop, you may find that the default icons don't suit you. With IconEdit32, you can modify existing .ICO files as you wish, or create brand-new icons. IconEdit32 is a 32-bit update to the older PC Magazine utility IconEdit, by Michael Mefford. It's a complete rewrite, with no old code retained. Where IconEdit was limited to single-image 32x32 16-color icons, icons created using IconEdit32 can include all valid combinations of size and color depths - up to nine images. Access to the various drawing tools and functions is through IconEdit32's main window.
