WinPatrol 15.0.2008.0
25 Apr 2008 - 17:17
WinPatrol sniffs out worms, adware, spyware, cookies, trojan horses, and other yucky crap that might make its way into your system without your knowledge or consent. Display additional info about programs you don't automatically recognize, manage cookies, kill cookies, read more about your cookies, and automatically reject cookies. If you're afraid about unwanted, malicious programs on your system, WinPatrol keeps things in check for you. WinPatrol uses a heuristic approach to detecting attacks and violations of your computing environment. Traditional security programs scan your hard drive searching for previously identified threats. WinPatrol takes snapshot of your critical system resources and alerts you to any changes that may occur without your knowledge. You'll be removing dangerous new programs while others download new reference files. WinPatrol 9.7.x.x has expanded the number of locations monitored as auto-run setup programs. The Spyware and Adware villains have found some of those undocumented locations in Windows and Scotty will now check them as well. WinPatrol will reset them back to the default Windows settings. WinPatrol 9.7 has been tested against the top Spyware threats and Scotty got a score of 100.

Winpooch Watchdog 0.6.6
21 Apr 2007 - 21:01
Winpooch is a Windows watchdog. By adding this free watchdog, you increase the safety of your anti-virus. It detects spywares and trojans as soon as they are installed in you computer. The Windows watchdog scans system directories and the registry in real time, and uses very few process resources. We recommend to use a anti-virus in addition to Winpooch. After being attacked by some vicious programs such as a trojan or spyware, the idea to develop a kind of anti-furtive-attack rase. The problem with that kind of virus is to detect "that it has attacked the machine". Some nice firewall or virus protection programs are efficient, but there are not always free. So here is a nice and simple watchdog that will take care about machine's system. Winpooch only scans some specific directories and registry key. The team is adding features thanks to some users requests.

Lavasoft System Analyzer Build 0.01a Alpha
05 Oct 2005 - 09:57
Lavasoft Research is releasing the alpha version of the Lavasoft System Analyzer. With the System Analyzer Tool, experienced and knowledgeable users can submit data on the infected systems in general and dubious new targets, in particular, to the Lavasoft Research team. The findings will be used to keep Lavasoft spyware definitions up to date. When the user starts the System Analyzer tool, it initially analyzes some registry subtrees with information on autorun applications and generates a report on the data analyzed. The data in the report falls into multiple categories, generally recognizable to those familiar with the registry, but which specifically include files executed at early stages of bootup, Windows services started and browser helper objects associated with Internet Explorer. Basically, the files and processes listed in the tool will be included in the report, and nothing else. After analyzing some aspects of the registry, the tool will generate the following entries, categorized into several sections or features: Run early during the boot process; DLLs that register for Winlogon notification of logon events , Screen saver; Scans of autostart locations such as the Startup folder for the current user and all users, the Run Registry keys, and standard application launch locations , Startup folder locations; Active setup executions , shell execute hooks, Shell extensions approved, SharedTaskScheduler, ShellServiceObjectDelayLoad, Protocol handlers; Browser Helper Objects (BHO's), Internet Explorer toolbars, extensions, Setting; The KnownDLLs defines the set of dynamic-link libraries (DLLs) that are searched during system startup; Registered Winsock protocols, including Winsock service providers. Malware often installs itself as a Winsock service provider; and much more...Note: This is a leaked alpha version, use it on your own risk!

Spy-The-Spy 1.1
04 Oct 2005 - 17:16
This tool will show you how to spy on a spyware. Maybe you are not aware how serious this problem could be. Do you know what is being secretely installed on your computer while you browse web? Spy-The-Spy simply monitors system folders for any new exe's or dll's being added or renamed: For example Windows and System32 folder is the main harbour for these bugs, but also Program Files or Documents and Settings. Spy-To-Spy sits in tray and watches folders you specified in settings. Now anytime exe is added, renamed or modified a message will appear. Spy-The-Spy is a file monitor. It doesn't differentiate between real spyware and a legit file that has been added to watched folders. There are cases when such legit files are created: Windows may on startup replace some dll's in system folder from its backup; Some virus and anti-spyware scan may create a temporary files to unpack zipped files. AdAware does this for example; Legitimate sites add dll's to your computer without any notification. Ebay does this for example. In general, this application doesn't replace anti-spyware but complements it. Spy-The-Spy is a monitor, it doesn't deny access to the files. When you see warning, the files are already there running. This software does not scan files. If you have previously spyware installed, Spy-The-Spy will not know about it. The Quarantine doesn't clean the registry that the spyware may change only brute-force remove the file from its location.

BHOCaptor 0.5
15 Dec 2004 - 09:28
BHOCaptor lets you control the Internet Explorer Browser Helper Objects (BHOs) that are installed on your system. It makes it easy to see what BHO s are installed and to de-activate them. A BHO is a COM DLL that allows developers to customize and control Internet Explorer. When IE 4.0+ starts, it reads the registry to locate installed BHOs and then creates them. Created BHOs then have access to all the events and properties of that browsing session. The APIs for building BHO s are very cool but the potential for abuse is high. BHOs give developers almost complete control over Internet Explorer. However, because BHOs don t necessarily have a user interface its possible that there are BHOs running on your system that you don t know about. BHOCaptor puts the user in control. BOHCaptor displays all BHOs and let s you deactivate them if desired.

BHODemon 2.0.0.23
17 Oct 2004 - 18:38
Is a free scanning tool that detects all BHOs installed on a Windows machine.Think of BHODemon as a guardian for your Internet Explorer browser: it protects you from unknown Browser Helper Objects (BHOs), by letting you enable/disable them individually. It also monitors your Registry and alerts you when a BHO is installed. Best of all, BHODemon knows about the most common BHOs - the good ones, and the not-so-good ones!BHODemon scans your Registry for BHOs, and presents any it finds in a list. By highlighting a BHO in this list, and clicking the "Details" button, you can see information about this BHO, and even disable it if you wish. BHOs are disabled by simply renaming the DLL that houses them. By renaming the DLL, instead of deleting it, you have the option of enabling it later if you wish. Why would you want to do that? Because the program that installed the BHO will not run if it can't find the DLL: Go!Zilla, for example, won't run if you remove its BHOs.
